"School of Hope" gets a Website

 
XLRI's PGP-CEM students organised an event for the differently-abled children at the School of Hope, Jamshedpur, launched a website -www.schoolofhope.co.in - for the school, donated a computer system, besides giving them a fun-time - dance, magic show, gifts, etc.

The Gift of Time - Visit to Nirmal Hryuday

 
Nirmal Hruday is an Old People's Home and Orphanage in Baridih, Jamshedpur run by the Missionaries of Charity. On Oct 3rd 2012, students of XLRI visited them, took sweets, one month of provision and love and affection with them. They spent time with these people who have been abondoned by the society and their own families...

“Med-Matrix: a Community Drug Take Back Program”

Cause for Change, a Jamshedpur-based NGO has launched “Med-Matrix: a Community Drug Take Back Program” as a part of “Jamshedpur JoyFest: Joy of Giving Week 2012”. This is an initiative to collect un-used-but-usable-medicine from the society and after proper segregation with pharmacist's consultation these will be distributed among the deprived society through health camps and charitable hospitals.

With the help 23 volunteers from Baridhi High School and 10 volunteers from the NGO , Cause for Change collected 10 cartons of medicines in the 1st day.




 

CII-YI's "Jagriti" initiative for Rural Women Healthcare


As a part of Jagriti - an initiative by CII-Yi (XLRI) during  “Jamshedpur JoyFest: Joy of Giving Week 2012” - 20 girl students of XLRI interacted with around 120 adolescent girls and women from a number of SHGs belonging to the area of Musabani Tehsil (East Singhbhumi) as their first visit. The shared/educated them about female specific health and hygiene related issues. Alert to the fact that women in under-resourced communities do not have access to modern amenities owing to their financial inadequacy, they distributed free of cost sanitary napkins, in order to place it as a healthy substitute to the usual unhygienic means, which can cause certain health problems.

Clothes and Dry Ration donation drive starts at XLRI Campus

Oct 2nd, 2012: Vastra Samman & Ann Daan - donation of clothes and dry ration - started at XLRI Campus. Students visited faculty and staff residences and collected the items. Collection bins have also been put in the hostels. The drive will continue through the week.

Support Education of a Tribal Child: a SIGMA-XLRI & Jharkhand Tribal Foundation Initiative


Update: Thanks to all for their generous contribution. Your contribuutions have helped meeting the target of one yesr's education for 53 tribal children. The donations for this year are now closed.
 
SIGMA (Social Initiative Group for Managerial Action, XLRI) & Jharkhand Tribal Foundation (a registered 2-year old NGO formed by some XLRI staff members) have joined together to raise funds for t0+ tribal children of BPL families from 3 tribal schools:
  • 15 children from St. Thomas School, Gandedhungri (annual educational requirement Rs 1200-1500/ child)
  • 8 children from Savar tribe from Holy Cross School, Chowka, Chandil (annual requirement Rs 12600/child - includes their hostel expenses) &
  • 30 children from St. Ignatius High School, Rengra, P.O. Tonto (annual educational requirement Rs 1500/ child)
